Panthers, Tigers, Leopards!

January 29, 2008

Well, I’ve finally upgraded. Yep, that’s right, finally got the new Apple OS Leopard and got rid of Panther and Tiger. I had Panther on my old Powerbook, and I skipped putting Tiger on it, which I regretted for awhile. And then I bought a Power Mac G5 from my college’s mac lab, which came with Tiger on it. But when Leopard came out, I told myself it’s time to upgrade. So I did. I bought the Family Pack, which was a bit expensive, but the right way to do it.

So far it’s been on my Powerbook for about 3 days, and 2 hours on my PowerMac from the time I’m writing this post. I haven’t had much time to test everything out, but I have seen enough of the new features to be happy with this upgrade. My 15″ Powerbook 1.5gHz at first ran slow, but I upgraded the RAM from 512 mb to 1.25gb, which made a great improvement and it nows seems to run faster than before Leopard.

The new Leopard features are great, I’ll already experience screen sharing which is really helpful to see what someone might be seeing on their screen. I used it to discuss a design with someone else. Spaces are a nice new feature too. They can get a little annoying if you are trying to use them, when you don’t really need to. But they do make things not so cluttered when you are doing a bunch of things at once. My favorite new feature so far though is stacks. It’s much easier for me to organize my often used files without having to open and sort through folders. No more of having those recently downloaded files piling up on the desktop either, they go straight into a nice stacked file. Anyone want to see what I mean go to Apple Leopard and look through these new features.

Overall, I’m pretty happy with Leopard and how it’s running on both MACs. Now all I need is an extra harddrive for backing up with Time Machine.

FedEx Can Eat My Shorts

January 25, 2008

So I ordered Apple’s new OS Leopard and it was suppose to be here two days ago. And it’s about 4:30 here in Berrien Springs, and still no package. The first day it wasn’t delivered, the tracking information said they couldn’t find my address. So I checked to make sure my address was correct. And it was. So how does a mail service not know where an address is. Don’t they have GPS and other stuff to find an address. Oh well, so they scheduled for the next day. Well no show again, this time the excuse was no attempt made. WTH! Why would they not even try? Lazy? Snow? (It was showing pretty bad) Who knows? I called them today and the lady assured me the package would get here today. So we’ll see. Let’s hope and pray that FedEx can find my house like UPS did a couple days ago. Way to go FedEx. Way to Go

Killer Bunnies!

January 18, 2008

Killer Bunnies is a game that can be a hard game to get yours hand on. Not many people have heard of this card game. But for those who have heard of it, it’s one of the best card games around. I’ve been looking for the game since last summer, when I played it at our annual Foote Family Camp Reunion. Even though I only played it once, I got very excited about this game. I had been looking all over for it, and I finally got my hands on it this Christmas.

In this game called Killer Bunnies, the obvious happens…bunnies are killed. Of course, these are only playing cards with comic-like bunnies on them. The point of the game is to collect carrots, with the hope that you get the “magic” carrot. The whole time your trying to grab as many carrots you can, other players are ruthlessly attacking your bunnies trying to stop you from gathering the carrots. The bunnies can die in pretty interesting and humorous ways. Player attack them with weapons from gelatin with pineapples chunks (one of my favorite cards) to nukes. Players’ bunnies can also fall into unfortunate scenarios like being exposed buried plutonium.

Overall, the game is pure fun with friends where you can bride, take revenge, and maybe even be generous here and there. So far everyone I’ve introduced the game to likes it just as much as I do. So go get the game. And have fun.

Belated Birthday and RX-8 Drive

May 12, 2007

So my 21st birthday was a couple of days ago. The day was pretty eventful. I had just drove home from Michigan the day before, so on my birthday I was pretty tired. But I got to spend some time with my parents, and then I got to go test drive some cars for the fun of it. I got to drive a car that I’ve always liked. The Mazda RX-8 is a car that I think of as my favorite, because it’s not completely out of most people’s price range, but there isn’t too many out on the road.

The RX-8 has a rotary engine, deemed RENESIS by Mazda. It’s a 1.3 L engine that can put out 230 horsepower. Because it has rotors that spins, instead of pistons being pushed and pulled, it can rev up past 9,000 rpm. And it was sweeeeettt to drive.

But that was about all the fun I really had on my birthday, and it was enough for me. Not sure if the saleman was having fun when I was weaving in and out of cars at 80 mph in a 50 mph limit. But who cares, it was a TEST drive. I had to make sure the vehicle could perform. And I’m sure I barely touched it’s compatibilites. Well watch for review on the Audi TT, Alfa Romeo Brera, & Mazda RX8, see what you think.
